CMR (Retail) Ltd and Fergusson Coal have joined forces to bring a new coal preparation and distribution service to the centre of the country. The joint venture company, Bennett Fergusson Coal Ltd. (BFC) have purchased the Grassmoor Coal Depot at North Wingfield Road, Nr. Chesterfield. The site comprises a total of 14 acres, mostly concrete based, and has full planning permission for the storage, preparation and distribution of solid fuel products. A variety of coal handling and screening equipment is on site and a wide variety of different solid fuel products can be received and prepared.

Opened in October 2000 the Grassmoor terminal is managed by Jeff Quinby. The facility provides a full domestic fuel service to local consumers; from door to door deliveries to pre-packed cash and carry sales from the site. The recent acquisition of local businesses, T.M.Pearson and McCann Fuels, both of Chesterfield , has further enhanced the service to customers within the sites delivery area.
Stocking a wide range of top quality fuels ensures customer satisfaction and also provides a collection point for local independent coal merchants. Coupled to this the depot operates as a forward land sale for Evans & Reid’s wholesale activities utilising the excellent stocking and screening facilities.
A substantial tonnage of industrial coal fired business is serviced from the depot, with a customer base comprised of local authority, hospital, general industrial and electricity generator business. Strategic stocks of washed graded coals are held on extensive concrete stocking areas to service such customers. With bulk and specialist vehicles loaded via screening plant equipped with magnets to ensure product quality. In addition to graded coals, blends of selected coal smalls are carefully prepared to exacting customer specifications.
